Blockley Art Society
Welcome to our Website
Founded in 1978, we have over 80 members ranging from relative beginners to those with many years experience of painting, exhibiting and selling their work. Membership is open to all levels of ability and we provide a warm welcome to all newcomers. Currently, there is a short waiting list.
The Society’s informal meetings offer advice and tuition free of charge for those who want it, from the more experienced members. All meetings involve active participation, with the minimum of demonstration or lecturing.
Members
Members are drawn from Blockley and many of the surrounding villages with some coming from much further afield. We meet two or three times each month with a mix of morning, afternoon and evening sessions. Meetings and workshops are held in the centre of Blockley and in nearby Ebrington.
Our Programme
Our programme involves working in a wide range of media from oils and acrylic to watercolour and pastels with diverse topics ranging from life drawing and painting to portrait, still life, printing, seascapes and landscapes – and sometimes ‘en plein air’.
Annual Exhibition
The centre-piece of the yearly programme is our annual exhibition which is usually held in the first week of August in Blockley. Participation in the exhibition is by selection and approximately half the membership are Exhibiting Members. We always aim to maintain our reputation for featuring a wide selection of works of a high standard.
